Details
Church Cottage is a NO SMOKING/NO PETS COTTAGE. Sorry, it
is beautiful and we would like to keep it that way. It will
sleep six people in three rooms. One double with ensuite and
two twin bedded rooms. All bedding and towels provided. Entrance
is from the back garden into a stone flagged hall with cloakroom
and WC - plenty of room for hiking boots.
There are 2 living rooms with wooden floors, oak beamed
ceilings and stone fire places, comfortable settees and some
lovely pieces of antique furniture and original artwork, TV,
DVD and CD player. There is a children's room with a nintendo
games machine and games, attached to a dedicated TV. The kitchen/dining
room is state-of-the-art with modern birch units with granite
work surfaces, stainless steel appliances, washer/dryer, dishwasher,
fridge, freezer, microwave, fully equipped with pots, pans,
glassware etc. The stairs and top floor are all beautifully
carpeted. On the first floor there are two twin bedded rooms,
both with original stone fire places. The bathroom is modern
with a sunken bath, Grohe Shower, WC and basin and shaver
point. The third bedroom is a modern loft style room with
a double bed, an ensuite shower room, WC and basin with a
beautiful view across the hills towards Chatsworth House.
There is a parking area at the back of the cottage that will
take two average sized cars, end to end or one very large
car with comfort. Rental is generally Saturday 3pm to Saturday
10 am, but long weekends (Fri-Mon) could be negotiated and
we would be grateful if you would leave the property in a
clean and tidy state.
The house has three price bands and these are as follows
and all include, bed linen, towels and heating and electricity.

Local Amenities
Bakewell is in the heart of the Peak District National Park.
You can walk from Church Cottage's front door down the river
valley to Haddon Hall or over the hills to Chatsworth Park.
The Cottage is in the middle of village, directly opposite
the lovely old parish church. The Peak Park Information office
is in the middle of the town - next door to Ye Olde Original
Bakewell Pudding shop.
Bakewell is a maze of little streets and shopping squares
with lovely short walks for the evenings through the water
meadows and round the backs of the old houses. Monday is market
day and very busy with a big open air market of stalls in
the square from 7.30 in the morning to mid afternoon. There
are French, Italian, Chinese, Indian, Australian and British
restaurants for your evening meals and dozens of tea shops
for mid afternoon breaks and pubs and delis serving food all
day. A short car journey will take you to Eyam, the Plague
Village, or Castletons caves, or the Chatsworth estate villages
of Endsor, Pilsey and Beeley or to any number of wonderful
villages, walks and fabulous views.
A list of bike trails is also available at the Peak Information
Office with information about hiring cycles for day trips
on the Tissington Trail. For the younger end of the family
there is Gullivers Kingdom in Matlock Bath or a cable car
ride to the Heights of Abraham.
