Taddington is a traditional Derbyshire village situated in the middle of the peak district between the market towns Bakewell and Buxton. This area is renowned for its natural beauty and excellent walks. No 1, The Retreat is an old limestone cottage which lies in the middle of the village with a short walking distance of the walking pubs which both serve food.

Accommodation

Our cottage has been modernized to cater for your home comforts but retains its original charms and character throughout. It comprises of small entrance porch leading to kitchen/dining room. The farmhouse style kitchen is well equipped and incorporates a Belfast sink. It has a impressive large Derbyshire limestone fire place with a deep recess housing the range style cooker. It has a stone flagged floor with under-floor heating , beamed ceiling and exposed limestone wall.

Off the kitchen is a utility with sink, washing machine and tumble dryer, with a door to a very small outside yard. From the kitchen/ dining room you step down into an unusually shaped sitting room with a log burner set in a dressed stone fire place, two comfortable leather settees, television and DVD and a book shelf.

Upstairs off the kitchen/dining room there are two bedrooms, the master bedroom having exposed wood floor and feature stone fireplace and a double bed with views looking up the village. Step down from the landing into the second bedroom with exposed wooden floor and 2 single pine beds, and a builtin pine wardrobe. Off the landing is the bathroom which comprises of a white and chrome bath suite with separate shower over bath and chrome towel rail.

Outside

There is off road parking with a natural stone flagged seating area in front of the cottage with a dwarf limestone wall and a flower bed to the side. Also there is a large secure limestone outbuilding ideal for storage of walking boots/outdoor clothing or for cyclists- bikes and biking equipment, etc..
