  chelmorton - swallow barn::

4 star rating (ETC)

Swallow Barn is a traditional stone barn, sympathetically converted to a high standard to offer a rural retreat for one/two people. Situated in Chelmorton, in the heart of the Peak District National Park, it offers excellent walking from the door, yet just a few miles from the attractive market towns of Buxton and Bakewell.

South facing, the property is approached by a tree lined walled pathway, which leads to a private flagged and walled patio area, with garden furniture. The attractive kitchen dining/lounge area, with wooden floor and oak beams, has a comfortable seating area with views across to the surrounding fields. An archway leads though into the bedroom, with double bed and en-suite shower room (electric shower, hand basin and toilet).

Village of Chelmorton

Chelmorton is a small, attractive village situated about 6 miles from Buxton and 8 miles from Bakewell. It is in the 'White Peak' part of the National Park, an area characterised by limestone walls and sparkling rivers in a green pastoral landscape. The village itself has a traditional country pub ('the Church Inn') which serves food and is only about 2 minutes walk from Swallow Barn. Many other pubs in the area also serve food.

Surrounding area

There are numerous footpaths and lovely villages to explore in the surrounding area and throughout the Peak District. Chatsworth House, home to the Duke and Duchess is just 10 miles away, as is Haddon Hall with its rose gardens and medieval tapestries. Bakewell (famous for its Bakewell Pudding) has interesting shops and a weekly Monday market and the spa town of Buxton (6 miles away) is renowned for its Opera House and festivals. For those interested in walking and outdoor pursuits there is an unrivalled choice of activities.
