Located
in the conservation village of Cressbrook in the heart of the
Peak National Park, Owl Cottage offers outstanding views of
Upperdale and the Monsal Dale Valley and easy access to all
the wonderful scenery and attractions that the area has to offer.
The local scenery is fabulous and there are excellent walks
straight from the door of the cottage. Cressbrook is a conservation
village of significant historical interest and is located
within the Wye Valley SSSI. Cressbrook Dale itself is one
of five dales in the White Peak which together make up the
Derbyshire Dales National Nature Reserve. Walkers heading
north out of the village are rewarded by spectacular views
of Ravensdale Crags, home to the local population of ravens,
while in spring the grassy banks of upper Cressbrook Dale
are home to an abundant, beautiful and nationally important
display of wild orchids.
Running close to the south of the village, the Monsal Trail
follows the route of a disused railway as it winds along beautiful
Upperdale towards Monsal Head.
Local Activities
Other activities to enjoy in the area include excellent fishing,
superb golf courses and hot-air ballooning flights. For the
more energetic holiday maker, the local area provides many
opportunities for rock climbing, road cycling and mountain
biking, horse riding, caving and hang-gliding.
