Crich is a popular destination, situated above the Derwent Valley, bordering the Peak District National Park. It is famous for the award winning Tramway Village and for being in the heart of “Peak Practice” country (the property being only 100 metres from the set). The war memorial, Crich Stand, overlooks the National Tramway Museum and on a clear day you can see up to 8 different counties.

Set in a conservation area in the pretty, historical village of Crich, this delightful cottage is ideally placed for walking and touring the beautiful Derbyshire countryside.

Local Attractions

The cottage is a great base for a relaxing holiday or for exploring the delights and historic charm of Derbyshire and the Peak District. Matlock Bath with Gulliver’s Kingdom and the Heights of Abraham Cable Cars, Matlock, Carsington Water and the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage site are all within 20 minutes drive. The grandeur of Chatsworth House and Gardens, Bakewell, Dovedale, Ashbourne and the city of Derby are all within 40 minutes drive. There are some fine walks from the door and the High Peak Trail and the Tissington Trail, popular routes for walkers and cyclists alike, are both close by.

Local Amenities

Everyday shopping is on the doorstep including two well stocked grocery shops, “Cardale” fish and chip shop and a superb butcher’s shop. Within 5 minutes walk, are four public houses serving real ale and good bar meals and Crich Tea Rooms serving breakfasts, light lunches and afternoon teas. There are also many excellent restaurants close by serving fine wines and outstanding food. If you enjoy pampering, the local hairdressers and beauticians offer wonderful facials, massages and manicures.

The cottage

Mansion cottage is a 19th century Derbyshire stone cottage that has just been renovated, extended and totally refurbished to produce a spacious, immaculately presented and homely property. Tastefully furnished throughout, it has 3 lovely bedrooms, sleeping 4 or 5 guests comfortably. Many of its original features have been retained including an open stone fireplace with glowing log burning stove, cast iron feature fireplace in the master bedroom, tongue and groove latch doors and original Belfast sink. A warm, welcoming and cosy retreat all year round.

It is suitable for all ages, for families, friends and couples alike and for those with accessibility problems. Those traveling with young children are welcome to use the high chair, cot, stair gate and a safety guard for the log burner at no additional cost. The property is easy to negotiate and benefits from having a bedroom and a bathroom on the ground floor, a low step to the front door, wide access through the back door and an even and flat patio area and path leading to it.

Accommodation

On the ground floor, the lounge area has a log burning stove set in an open stone fireplace with media equipment. The dining room seats 6 people, and the newly installed kitchen is well equipped with the original Belfast sink and exceptional cooking facilities. The kitchen features a ceramic hob, electric oven, microwave, fridge with a 4* freezer compartment, kettle, toaster, dishwasher and washing machine. The ground floor bathroom has a shower over the bath, WC and wash hand basin. A single bedroom on this floor is easily accessible for those who can’t manage the stairs.

There are two bedrooms on the first floor. The master bedroom enjoys views across the village. It has a double bed, a cast iron feature fireplace and the en-suite shower room is tiled floor to ceiling and has a shower cubicle with screen, WC, wash hand basin and towel radiator. The second bedroom has one single bed and a stow away that allows conversion into a double bed or can be used as an additional bed.

Outside, there is a beautiful private cottage garden, with a large patio area, garden furniture and a brick built barbeque, all completely enclosed by a stone wall. The stone built garage to the rear provides secure parking for one car or storage for bikes and there is an additional private parking space for one car at the front of the cottage.
