Built in the 17th century and grade two listed, Field Head
Farmhouse is built of traditional limestone with sandstone
mullion windows to the front of the house. The interior retains
features such as original oak beams and is furnished to a
high standard, blending quality furnishings with modern conveniences.
Set in a secluded and peaceful location down a short farm
lane within its own grounds and with open views, Field Head
Farmhouse has a large front lawn with flower beds, large patio
area, orchard, horse paddock and large enclosed yard with
stables.
Field Head Farmhouse is an ideal spot for all who enjoy country
life and is a safe and secure environment for both children
and pets alike. Located close to the Manifold Valley and Dovedale
it's ideal country for the walker, cyclist or horse rider.
Local amenities and tourist information are to be found in
the historic market towns of Leek and Ashbourne, both within
a 15 minute drive. Situated on the south edge of the Peak
District National Park and central to both Derbyshire and
Staffordshire's many attractions including Alton Towers and
Chatsworth House, there is a wealth of places to visit and
enjoy whatever your age.
The southern fringe of the white peak area remains a very
much unspoilt area of the Peak District. Field Head Farmhouse
sleeps 11 adults comfortably in five bedrooms, with additional
bed settee, camp bed, large cot and camping cot. Please note
that all towels and bedding is provided along with initial
sundries. For extra members of your party, you can even bring
the family caravan during the Summer months, all for a minimal
charge.
Please note that Field Head Farmhouse always welcomes children
and you are also welcome to bring your own pets including
dogs, horses and ponies. For your own safety there is no smoking
in the house.

Accommodation
Field Head Farmhouse has three floors with two staircases.
The third floor has low sloping ceilings and open plan stairs
to the fifth bedroom with en-suite bathroom. The property
is fully central heated and sleeps 11 adults comfortably with
additional double sofa bed, folding camp bed, cot and camping
cot.
The kitchen-diner is traditionally furnished and comprises
a limestone fireplace complete with wood burning stove with
original oak mantelpiece. Well equipped with all the latest
mod cons: cooker, fridge, freezer, dishwasher etc, the large
farm style table comfortably seats 10 with 2 extra stools
for the kids (there's also a high-chair).
The lounge provides a large seating area with 3 separate
settees and incorporates many unusual and original features
including the original 17th century oak beamed ceiling, mullion
sandstone windows and brick fireplace with living flame gas
fire. Widescreen colour television with Sky and terrestrial
channels available, a hi-fi system enclosed in wooden cabinet
and payphone.
Each bedroom has been individually and tastefully furnished
using antique Victorian furniture. Two of the bedrooms have
cast-iron bedroom fire-grates and four have triple sandstone
mullion windows with views of the garden and scenic countryside.
The fifth bedroom has an additional 4ft bed settee alongside
a colour video- TV combo complete with Sky and an en-suite
bathroom. There is a second bathroom with bath/ shower, wash
hand basin, WC and shaving point situated on the first floor.
The outside of the farmhouse is beautifully maintained with
stunning views of the local countryside. The open fronted
porch backs onto the centrally heated laundry room which contains
a sink, worktop, washing machine, tumble dryer, iron, ironing
board and sundries. Next to the laundry room there is a lockable
room which is available for storing bicycles and tack.
The patio and large garden with rockery in front of the porch
is equipped with garden furniture and a barbeque. Adjoining
the garden is a small walled orchard which has ample playing
room for children with a climbing frame, swing, slide and
sandpit as well as a pets corner. You are welcome to feed
and take care of the pets during your stay, please remember
also to bring your Wellington boots for this job.
The large yard area and bricked drive accommodates ample
parking; the brick out-building stables horses and ponies
with 4 indoor boxes and one large and two small stalls. Hay
and bedding provided at extra charge. A dog kennel and basket
is also available for your dog should you wish.
