"Cottage perfect. Views and scenery in the surrounding countryside stupendous. Will be back for more." Mary & Sandy Kelman Aug 07

Converted from 18th century farm buildings into superb accommodation, you can relax and unwind in a wonderful, peaceful setting. We are surrounded by some of the most spectacular countryside in the National Park. Lush, tranquil dales and wild romantic highlands can be explored on foot, horseback or by car. The Manifold Trail runs below Swainsley Farm (with easy access for pushchairs or wheelchair users) and offers 9.5 miles of excellent cycling. Fishing, pony trekking, water sports and cycle hire are all available locally.

The less adventurous may just want to stroll through fields, walk along the banks of the Manifold River or visit some of our pretty villages with their lovely old churches and ancient inns. Village shops are close-by and there are some wonderful places to eat.

Alton Towers, Matlock Bath and Chatsworth are within 15 miles. There are many National Trust properties, country houses, gardens and family attractions in the area.

The Coach House (sleeps 6, 3 bedrooms)

Converted from a former coach house and stable block overlooking the Manifold River, this superb cottage has amazingly spectacular views from every window! It's a lovely, detached and spacious cottage popular both with couples and families.

From the hallway you walk into a magnificent lounge with vaulted ceiling. A flight of open-tread stairs leads to a romantic, galleried double bedroom overlooking the lounge. On the ground floor, a second bedroom has twin beds (which can be made into a king size double by arrangement). The bathroom has a bath with over-bath shower, WC, hand basin and towel rail. A smaller bedroom has bunk-beds (suitable for adults or children). The farmhouse-style kitchen/dining room has a vaulted ceiling and is fully equipped with auto washing machine/dryer, dishwasher, fridge, freezer, cooker and microwave.

With the exception of the gallery bedroom, all other rooms are on the ground floor making the cottage suitable for wheelchair users and visitors with limited mobility.

The Haybarn (sleeps 4/5, 2 bedrooms)

The cottage is a superb and spacious barn conversion which retains many original features and has fantastic views from every room!

The farmhouse-style kitchen/dining room is fully equipped with auto washing machine/dryer, dishwasher, fridge, freezer, cooker and microwave. The lounge has a beamed ceiling and is equipped with TV, CD and DVD but its best feature is the amazing view of the hills surrounding Swainsley Farm. A flight of open tread stairs from the kitchen to the landing provides access to a spectacular double bedroom with vaulted ceiling and exposed roof trusses. The cottage has a new, deluxe bathroom/WC with over bath shower, hand basin and towel rail. A separate, second bedroom has twin beds (which can be made into a king size double by arrangement) and also a folding bed for an extra person.

The cottage will easily accommodate two couples but the quirky layout (second bedroom leading off the master bedroom) means that it's ideal for families, especially those with small children.

The Old Byre (sleeps 2, 1 bedroom)

A cosy and romantic, one bedroom cottage for two people. It faces south and has amazing views of the Manifold Valley and the hills surrounding Swainsley Farm. Converted to the highest standards, the cottage combines every modern comfort with beamed ceilings and many original features.

Downstairs there's an open-plan sitting room, dining room and kitchen with attractive rugs on terracotta tiles. The farmhouse-style kitchen is fully equipped with auto washing machine/dryer, dishwasher, fridge, freezer, oven, hob and microwave. A flight of open tread stairs leads to a galleried landing, off of which is a lovely double bedroom with 'views to die for' (the opinion of one of our visitors). The landing provides access to a new, deluxe bathroom/WC with over bath shower, hand basin and towel rail.
