ford nr leek - ford wetley cottage ::

Nestled in the wooded grounds of Ford Wetley House, in the Staffordshire Peak District National Park, the holiday cottage is the ideal place to retreat to. The old dairy was converted in 1997 retaining a lot of the original features.

Escape the hustle and bustle, kick back, put your feet up or put your boots on and go exploring! The choice is yours, in fact you’ll be spoilt for choice. Whether it’s adventure and action at Alton Towers, just 7 miles away, rock climbing on the stunning cliffs and crags, getting dirty on a mountain bike which can be hired locally or just a good long walk around Dovedale, the Manifold trail to name but a few it’s all here. Or maybe you’re after a more relaxing time, a stroll around the excellent Blackbrook zoological park just one mile away or why not go and visit the magnificent Chatsworth House or browse around the market towns of Leek, Ashbourne, Buxton & Bakewell. Take a trip down memory lane on the Churnet Valley Steam Railway or visit the place that inspired Rudyard Kipling’s parents. Or just get some of the fantastic local foods and enjoy the beautiful surroundings of the cottage and all the wildlife that comes to visit. It’s so peaceful, no road noise to be heard, just the birds and the sheep, the ultimate in tranquility!

Location

Ford Wetley Cottage is situated about half a mile outside the picture postcard hamlet of Ford. Away from the main house and secluded by trees, in fact you can’t see another property just the rolling fields and sheep. It’s the perfect place if you want some privacy.

A one mile walk across the field gets you to Onecote, where there is an excellent cafe open on the weekends and the Jervis Arms pub. With several other pubs within a few miles.

Accommodation (3 bedrooms, sleeps 7)

The Holiday Cottage has three large bedrooms and can sleep 6 and we have one travel cot & high chair. On the ground floor there is a double bed & en-suite shower room. Upstairs there is a double bed bedroom with en-suite bathroom and a twin bed bedroom with shower room. The oak beamed farmhouse kitchen is well stocked with a electric hob and oven, fridge freezer, washing machine, microwave, toaster & kettle and a dining table. Across the entrance hall is the spacious lounge, again with oak beams, and a wood burning stove add to the cosy ambience. The lounge also has comfortable leather sofas, TV & DVD player and a selection of games. There is a small step into the cottage and two steps down to the ground floor bedroom, making it the perfect place for those not able to climb lots of stairs. The cottage has full central heating throughout. We supply all bed linen & tea towels. Luxurious hand & large bath towels can also be supplied for £3 per person.

The cottage enjoys it’s own formal garden and is set in an acre of land which you’re welcome to explore, including two little brooks with waterfalls and woodland. This area is fenced off for our younger visitors safety. There is a garden bench and a BBQ for those hot summers and if you are bringing your bikes a secure place to store them. Parking for three cars.

Pets welcome for a £15 supplement. Unfortunately we cannot cater for large breeds of dogs.

Smoking is not allowed in the cottage.
