The end terraced 3 bedroom miners cottage is maintained to a high standard by its owners. The cottage has been awarded a 4 star rating by the Heart of England Tourist board and Peak District Tourist Board.

Ground Floor

On the ground floor is the lounge with its leather sofas and chair facing an open cosy real fire for evenings in, with TV, video or radio.

A step up takes you into the modern kitchen and dining room highly equipped with fridge / freezer, gas hob, electric oven and microwave, toaster, coffee maker and many extras for the keen holiday chef.

First Floor

Stairs lead up to the 1st floor with a separate shower room, toilet and bathroom with washbasin and shaver point. The main double bedroom with radio and TV overlook the babbling river Wye. There is plenty of space for a travel cot which can be provided free of charge.

The stairs lead to the top floor where two twin bedded rooms are located. The front bedroom looks across the river and affords an eye level view of flying geese and hot air balloons flying past on some evenings.

The rear twin room has a velux window looking towards the old forge and the start of the Monsal Trail.

External

The gravel driveway at the front can accommodate up to 3 cars and there is a cottage style front garden with York stone patio and seating area. This is south facing and enjoys the sun for most of the day.

To the rear is a patio area suitable for alfresco dining and use of a BBQ is provided. The outbuildings contain a washer/drier, outside toilet and secure cycle storage.

Activities

The cottage is ideally situated on a private road overlooking the River Wye. It is only a few minutes level walk from the centre of the small historic market town of Bakewell with its many shops, restaurants and of course its weekly general and agricultural markets. Yet the peaceful countryside is just a stones throw away.

Maps and routes for the beautiful walks (both short and long) around the Peak District, starting from the cottage or short drive away are available on loan. The Monsal trail is popular with both walkers and cyclists. Day permits may be obtained for fishing or you can watch the many trout jump for bread by the Packhorse Bridge and the millstream.

Alternatively there are many other attractions within easy reach:- Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall, Lea Gardens, Peak Shopping Village, the Heights of Abraham and Blue John Mines.

There are also many varied seasonal events, the Bakewell Show, Chatsworth country shows as well as Buxton, Chesterfield, Sheffield and Matlock provide more shops, sports facilities, cinemas, theatres and opera.

Short breaks are available in the winter season

Prices

From £250 - £500 per week up to 6 people. This includes linen towels and all services. Pets are welcomed with responsible owners and by prior arrangement.

We operate a no smoking policy within the cottage.
