stanton lees - lees terrace cottage ::

Location

Stanton Lees is a small very quiet hamlet situated about 4 miles from the market town of Bakewell and the Spa towns of Matlock and Matlock Bath. It is a peaceful picturesque hamlet lying on a gritstone outcrop in the middle of the limestone White Peak Area directly under Stanton Moor edge and the ancient site of the Nine Ladies Standing Stones, renowned for its tranquillity and positive energy. It is a designated conservation area and provides an excellent base for relaxing and exploring this area of outstanding natural beauty and historic interest by foot, cycle or car.

There are superb walks from the door up through the woods and on to the moors with paths and cycle routes linking the pretty famous white peak villages. Both the historic houses of Haddon Hall and Chatsworth are longer walks or only 10 minutes by car. The long distance pathways such as the Limestone Way and the Derwent Valley Heritage Way are accessible from Stanton Lees.
