bradwell - the barn, smalldale hall ::

This is an outstanding, stone built, Grade II listed detached barn conversion, on the outer fringes of the village of Bradwell in the Hope Valley in the heart of the Peak District.

Sandwiched by towering cliffs between the Hope Valley and Bradwell Dale, Bradwell is a pretty Peaks village, lying within the Peak National Park. Bagshawe Cavern, reached by 130 steep steps, sits on the edge of the village and is a reminder of its mining history.

Nearby, and well worth a visit, are the famous Peak, Blue John, Treak Cliff and Speedwell Caverns, whilst the David Mellor Design Museum in the village of Hathersage is not to be missed.

The picturesque village of Castleton is just three miles away and is overlooked by the crumbling Mam Tor or “Shivering Mountain” with the dramatic Winnats Pass - a steep, narrow defile between the high limestone cliffs winding by.

Bradwell itself has shops, pubs and places to eat and makes an excellent base for enjoying this fascinating and beautiful part of the country by car or on foot.

Accommodation (3 bedrooms, sleeps 8)

The barn has been restored to an extremely high standard using modern styling but it retains many of the original features. There is a magnificent spiral staircase, three ensuite bedrooms, under-floor heating and fantastic views.

The property benefits from full gas under floor central heating, colour TV, DVD, WIFI internet access, radio/CD etc. Small library of books/games/DVDs.

On the ground floor there is a family room with double & single bed with additional pull out single bed, with ensuite bath with hand held shower and basin plus WC.

The first floor has a fitted kitchen, utility room, open plan living area with dining & sitting areas, games room and a WC/basin. The kitchen includes Range cooker with gas oven & hob, microwave, fridge, washer, dishwasher. The games room contains table football, darts & outdoor toys.

On the mezzanine level there is a double bedroom and a twin which has ‘roll together’ beds to make double if required. Both rooms have ensuite bath with shower over, basin/WC and accessed via spiral staircase with linking ‘bridge’ at top, which leads into bedrooms.
