Baslow is a beautiful, traditional Derbyshire village in
the Peak District National Park. The village is within walking
distance of Chatsworth House, with its park, gardens, farmyard
and playground. Wonderful walks, cycle-rides and pubs are
nearby. A well-stocked grocery shop is 250 yards from the
cottage and also in the village is a Post Office, gallery,
a Methodist chapel and a 12th century church.
There are many places of interest within a short driving
distance - Tudor Haddon Hall, Bakewell of pudding fame and
other attractions, the Blue John Caverns of Castleton, Hathersage
with its heated outdoor swimming pool and the plague village
of Eyam. A lovely walk from the cottage over Curbar Edge brings
you to Calver with its Craft Centre and enticing coffee shop.
Bike trails criss-cross the area. The vibrant cultural hub
of Sheffield, with restaurants, cinemas, museums and galleries,
is less than half an hour away.
